This series comprises a range of figurative and portraiture works.  It includes some redheads as  growing up in Ireland as a redhead I was always embarrassed about my red hair and freckles.  Now I’m wise enough to know that being a redhead is something to celebrate and be proud of!

Gladys Cooper

Dame Gladys Constance Cooper was an English actress, theatrical manager and producer whose career spanned seven decades across stage, film, and television. Beginning in Edwardian musical comedies, she later managed London’s Playhouse Theatre and became acclaimed for roles in W. Somerset Maugham’s plays. In Hollywood, she earned three Academy Award nominations.

Dr Duchenne’s Patient                                                                                   

Guillaume Benjamin Amand Duchenne was a French neurologist.  His diagnostic innovations led to immortalise his name including conditions such as Duchenne muscular dystrophy, Duchenne-Aran spinal muscular atrophy, Duchenne-Erb paralysis and Duchenne’s disease.  This little study was inspired by a copyright free photo taken by Tournachon in 1862 in Paris.  The young patient is unknown but clearly not impressed.

The Crimson Chair and The Book Worm

The Crimson Chair series I and II weaves together stories of everyday solitude, drawing the viewer into intimate spaces of introspection and stillness.  Crimson Chair II is a nod to my fabulous Sydney book clubbers.
